Dropbox is the de-facto standard for file synchronization. It is present on both desktop and mobile operating systems. Why not integrate Dropbox within applications themselves? We have developed an Outlook add-on to attach files residing on Dropbox. The sender chooses files synchronized by Dropbox from a new Outlook panel. and the recipient can open the attachment via a published URL. If the file is public then it can be downloaded from a public URL. Private files are published on a secret url and shortened. All the details are handled behind the scenes using the Dropbox API. Dropbox automatically assigns the expiration date for the files. This information is summarized in the e-mail.
Dropbox is an excellent addition to managed file transfer solutions, as it eliminates the need to spend money and time on developing and deploying applications for different platforms. Dropbox already synchronizes files across Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, Apple iOS, Linux, Android, and Blackberry. Windows Phone 7 does not have an official Dropbox application yet but unofficial ones have already been created with the Dropbox API.
Microsoft Outlook is the most popular desktop e-mail client in the world (link to campaign monitor statistics). Integrating Outlook with Dropbox via a plugin is a no-brainer offering. The plugin could be expanded in the future to incorporate automatic synchronization of files attached outside Dropbox to the Dropbox folder.
Another important benefit of using Dropbox within Outlook is that it allows you to easily attach very large files like movies or virtual machine images for applications such as VMWare, VirtualBox or Hyper-V.

It is working.

This app is great, but I would love for it to be able to browse to any local/network folder, choose a file then automatically copy that file to your Dropbox public folder and attach. This would make for a brilliant replacement for YouSendIt and their Outlook plugin.
Hi. Works like it should, thanks for that. But it’s not possible to upload a new attachmet into my dropbox via this AddIn? Is there really only the way to upload via Dropbox itself and than attach it to my mail?
Awesome plugin!! The only “bug” or “feature” its when I close the Dropbox explorer I haven’t find a way out to open it again, hope that you can workaround this in any future release. Great plugin folks!
My antivirus just removed the plugin citing spyware – so BEWARE!
Can you post the exact message and the antivirus that you are using?
Is there any way to remove the footer “My Dropbox Attachments” when I’m not sending attachments? Only a small fraction of my emails use this, but every single email is tagged, even if I close the browser.
We are looking forward to your response. If you don’t answer in a few days with more information your comment will be politely removed.
Yeap, I am having the same problem too…
We have Office365 / Outlook 2016, but when i install the program, nothing shows up ?
